About the First Baptist Church of Pimlico
About First Baptist Church Of Pimlico
Transforming Lives Through Christ Since 1923
First Baptist Church of Pimlico is an independent Baptist church situated in Northwest Baltimore, Maryland. The Church was founded in 1923 and incorporated in 1932; we have served the Pimlico/Park Heights communities and greater Baltimore ever since. Our purpose is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all its facets with as many people as possible, using all the means the Lord puts at our disposal, in order that God might call and convert sinners to live the reality of Christ as their Savior and Lord.
A Baptist Church Where You Can Know God’s Love
Doctrinally, We Believe:
- The Bible is the verbally inspired, inerrant Word of God and the all-sufficient rule of faith and life.
- There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, apparent in creation and revealed in Scripture.
- We believe in the virgin birth, the sinless perfection, the bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven of Jesus Christ, and in His present life, there for us as High Priest and Advocate.
- Man was created in the image of God; he disobeyed God and thereby incurred spiritual death (which is separation from God) and physical death as a consequence; and that as descendants of Adam, all are born in sin and are sinners by nature and practice.
- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.
- We believe in the personal, pre-tribulational, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
- We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
- We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the unrepentant.
- We believe the Church is an elect company of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body, its mission being to witness concerning its head, Jesus Christ, by preaching the gospel among all nations, members of which will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before He appears to set up His kingdom.
- We believe the grace of God to be sufficient for the maintenance of a godly walk and that Christ, not the law, is the believer’s rule of life.
- We also affirm the eternal security of the believer, the personality of Satan, and that the apostolic sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary.
- We believe saints of God are commanded to be part of a local assembly: to be encouraged, to fellowship with other believers, to be edified, instructed, and to grow in faith and in knowledge.

Our Purpose for Existing
I. OUR PRIME AIM IS TO KNOW, WORSHIP, GLORIFY, LOVE, AND OBEY THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD.
II. WE ALSO PURPOSE TO SHARE THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST IN ALL ITS FACETS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THE HOLY SPIRIT TO CALL AND CONVERT ALL SINNERS TO THE REALITY OF CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD. OUR DESIRE IS TO DO THIS THROUGH PRAYER, PERSONAL AND PARISH EVANGELISM (COMMUNITY OUTREACH), AND PULPIT EVANGELISM, DESIRING TO REACH OUR WORLD USING ANY SPECIAL LEADS AND METHODS AND NEVER CHANGING HIS MESSAGE. ROM. 1:16
III. TO ENCOURAGE AND MOTIVATE EACH CHRISTIAN TO A LIFE OF TOTAL COMMITMENT TO CHRIST AND THE CAUSE OF CHRIST (WITH AN EMPHASIS ON PRAYER, TRUTH, UNITY, LOVE, FAITHFULNESS, GOODNESS, KINDNESS, PATIENCE, GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSEVERANCE).
IV. TO BRING EACH BELIEVER TO REALIZE THE NEED TO BE A YIELDED VESSEL, FILLED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH THE RENEWING OF HIS OR HER MIND, TO UNDERSTAND BIBLE PRINCIPLES AND INTERPRET AND EXPRESS CLEARLY WHAT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS. TO STRENGTHEN AND DEVELOP THE FAITH, GOD-GIVEN GIFTS, AND TALENTS OF EVERY BELIEVER.
V. TO MINISTER, ESPECIALLY TO THE ORPHANS (THOSE WITHOUT FATHER/MOTHER), WIDOWS, THE NEEDY, AND THE POOR.
VI. TO CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE OF LOVE, CONCERN, AND ACCEPTANCE WHERE EACH MEMBER CAN GROW FROM WHATEVER LEVEL THEY MAY BE TO A MORE MATURE LEVEL (IN GOD’S TIMING).
VII. WE ALSO PURPOSE TO PRAY FOR THE LEADERSHIP OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF PIMLICO AND THE BODY OF CHRIST, REMEMBERING THAT WE ARE MEMBERS OF ONE ANOTHER.

VIII. TO WORK AND WAIT EXPECTANTLY FOR THE RETURN OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.
